Pakistan is one of the world's largest remittance markets, and Canada — home to a Pakistani community of more than 300,000 people — is a steady source. Choosing the right service matters more than most people think: on a C$500 transfer, the difference between the best provider (Sendwave) and the worst (Xoom) is about 4,109 PKR — roughly C$21 that either reaches your family or doesn't.

That difference almost never comes from the advertised fee; most services show “C$0 fees”. The real cost hides in the CAD/PKR exchange rate margin each provider applies.

IdealRemit compares 19 services on the Canada → Pakistan corridor in real time — including Sendwave, TapTapSend, XE, KOHO, Remitly, WorldRemit, Western Union, MoneyGram and Ria — paying to any Pakistani bank account, Easypaisa or JazzCash wallet, or cash pickup.

Just enter your amount and sort by rupees received. It's the only number that matters — and the leader changes from month to month.

Snapshot at 13 June 2026 (providers quoting that day). Rates move in real time.

Sendwave delivers about 4,109 PKR more than Xoom on the same C$500 transfer — roughly C$21.

Watch the fixed fees: Ria charges C$4 and Paysend C$3 — on small amounts that can outweigh a slightly better rate.

Quote freshness: ACE Money Transfer last quoted on 2026-04-18 (rate ≈ 205.00) and MoneyGram on 2026-05-24 (rate ≈ 203.12). Both were the highest-rate options when active — if they re-quote at those levels they would top the table — but they are excluded from the 13-June snapshot above. Re-run the comparator before sending to see whether they're live again.

Why does the CAD/PKR rate differ between providers?

The Pakistani rupee floats on global currency markets, so there's a clear mid-market rate to measure against. Providers don't have to give you that rate — each applies its own margin, and that margin is where the real cost sits.

On our data the spread between the best and worst provider reaches about 4% of the amount sent — far wider than fixed-rate corridors, which makes comparing essential:

  • Low margin: Sendwave, TapTapSend, LemFi, Profee, KOHO → more rupees for your recipient
  • Mid margin: XE, WorldRemit, Remitly, Paysend
  • High margin: Western Union, OFX, Skrill, Xoom → noticeably fewer rupees

Advertised fees rarely reflect the true cost. The only reliable figure is the rupees actually received, which our comparison calculates for every option.

Canada → Pakistan: the corridor

Pakistan is among the world's largest recipients of remittances, and Canada is a long-standing source. The 2021 census counted about 303,000 Canadians of Pakistani origin — roughly 70% of them in Ontario, with large communities across the Greater Toronto Area (Mississauga, Milton, Brampton) and in Alberta and British Columbia. It's a young, professional community that sends money home regularly to support family.

On the receiving side, Pakistan offers several fast options. Most digital providers — Sendwave, TapTapSend, XE, KOHO, Remitly, WorldRemit — pay directly into a Pakistani bank account (HBL, UBL, MCB, Meezan, Allied and others) via the Raast instant-payment rail, or to an Easypaisa or JazzCash mobile wallet, usually within minutes. Cash pickup is also widely available through bank branches and agent networks. Ask your recipient which they prefer — wallet and bank payouts are typically the fastest and cheapest.

Regular transfers — the savings add up

On this corridor the per-transfer gap is large and it compounds:

  • Per C$500 transfer: about 4,109 PKR (~C$21) between the best provider and the worst
  • Versus Western Union specifically: a top provider returned on average ~2,127 PKR more per month — about 25,500 PKR (~C$128) a year for someone sending C$500 monthly
  • Choosing the best each month rather than the weakest could mean well over C$240 a year more reaching your family

A comparison on IdealRemit takes under 60 seconds. Because the leading provider can change month to month, it's worth checking before every transfer.

CAD/PKR trend (March–June 2026)

The CAD/PKR rate has drifted down modestly over the period — the best available rate eased from about 206 in March to around 201 in June. In other words, C$500 buys slightly fewer rupees now than in early spring, so it's worth comparing carefully to protect the amount your family receives.

Key takeaway: Sendwave posted the best average rate in three of the four months, with Profee, TapTapSend and the Canadian app KOHO consistently in the top tier. Western Union and Remitly trailed throughout. The day of the month and day of the week show no reliable effect — what matters is the provider you pick, not timing your send to a particular day.

Which payment method should you use from Canada?

Bank transfer (EFT / Interac)

  • Pro: usually no extra cost, ideal for larger amounts
  • Con: can take longer to fund than a card
  • Best for: amounts over C$500, no urgency

Debit/credit card

  • Pro: often funds and delivers in minutes
  • Con: credit cards may incur a cash-advance fee from your bank
  • Best for: urgent transfers

Cash payment (agent in person)

  • Available at: Western Union, MoneyGram, Ria (Canadian agent network)
  • Pro: useful if you prefer to pay in cash
  • Con: in-person visit required; most Pakistan transfers settle to a bank account or wallet

How does your recipient receive the money in Pakistan?

Cash pickup (bank branches, agent networks)Western Union, MoneyGram, Ria

Bank deposit via Raast and the Easypaisa and JazzCash mobile wallets are the most popular ways to receive money in Pakistan — most digital providers credit a bank account or wallet within minutes. You'll need the recipient's IBAN/account number, or their registered Easypaisa/JazzCash mobile number.

Tip: for Pakistan, a direct bank, Easypaisa or JazzCash transfer is usually faster and cheaper than cash pickup. Have your recipient's IBAN or wallet number ready before you start.

Frequently Asked Questions — Money Transfers to Pakistan

On recent data, Sendwave, TapTapSend, LemFi and Profee offered the best net CAD/PKR value, along with the Canadian app KOHO. OFX, Skrill and Xoom were the least competitive. Watch fixed fees (Ria C$4, Paysend C$3). Use the comparison above and sort by rupees received.

With June 2026 rates, C$500 ranges from about 95,953 PKR (Xoom) up to 100,062 PKR (Sendwave) — a difference of roughly 4,109 rupees for the same transfer.

Yes. Most digital providers — Sendwave, TapTapSend, XE, KOHO, Remitly, WorldRemit — pay directly into a Pakistani bank account via Raast, or to an Easypaisa or JazzCash wallet, usually within minutes. You'll need the recipient's IBAN/account number or their registered wallet mobile number.

The day of the month and day of the week show no reliable effect on the CAD/PKR rate. The rate has eased modestly since spring and moves with the wider market. What matters most is the provider you choose — compare before every transfer rather than trying to time the day.

In June 2026, C$1 was worth roughly 192–200 rupees depending on the provider. The rupee floats, so rates vary more than on fixed-rate corridors — the provider's margin makes a real difference to the amount received.

Bank deposits via Raast and Easypaisa/JazzCash wallet payouts are usually credited within minutes. Some providers quote a few hours for verification on a first transfer. Cash pickup is also typically available quickly.

Yes, for a first send. Over the period analysed several providers offered promotional rates well above standard for new customers (up to +4.9% with Western Union, +3.5% with Remitly, +3.3% with MoneyGram and +3.2% with Ria). A welcome bonus can make even a normally less competitive provider the best choice for one transfer.

There's no legal cap for individuals from Canada. For larger amounts, providers may request ID and source-of-funds documents under anti-money-laundering rules. Overseas Pakistanis can also use a Roshan Digital Account to send and invest funds; inbound remittances to family are not taxed as income in Pakistan.
